Matthew's obituary
Matthew Joseph Bruno passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2022. We are devastated by this loss and completely unprepared. Matt was only 29 years old.
Matthew was born December 22, 1992 to his loving parents Diane Bruno-Markel and Anthony Bruno from Reisterstown, MD. He immediately filled the lives of those around him with joy and was loved by a large family and many friends. He will be deeply missed more than words can say.
Matt is survived by his loving parents, two sisters Amanda and Madison Bruno, his stepfather, Bryan Markel, grandmother JoAnn Rask, grandparents Athena and Robert Frey and John and LaVern Gipprich. He leaves behind step siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Matt was a gregarious child, interested in life and adventure. His passion was team sports from a little boy and throughout his life. He grew up in Stewartstown, PA and Timonium, MD. He attended Dulaney High School where he excelled in academics and sports, playing on the varsity football and lacrosse teams, and the club team LaxWorld. Matt loved Ocean City, MD and Outer Banks vacations with his family and enjoyed fitness as an avid gym goer.
Matt pursued undergraduate studies at Essex Community College where he played on the school’s lacrosse team and also attended University of SC. He was successful in his work and was always ready to lend a helping hand whenever he was needed.
Anyone who knew Matt, knew that he was a kind, fun-loving young man. He was an avid Ravens and SEC football fan, attending home games with his dad and traveling all over to see them play. One of his Ravens’ highlights was going to New Orleans to celebrate them in the Super Bowl and to Miami and Chicago with his buddies in the Fall, 2021. He also enjoyed the game of golf. He leaves behind a large group of friends who shared his love of sports, travel, and having a good time. He was known as the life of the party and the prankster of the group.
There will be a memorial service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 1609 Kurtz Ave., in Lutherville, MD on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11am. Please join us immediately afterwards for a Celebration of Life from noon – 3pm at Spangler Hall, just steps from the church. We welcome all family and friends to join to celebrate the beauty of Matthew’s human heart.
His parents ask that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Matthew’s name to The Brandon Tolson Foundation, www.brandontolsonfoundation.o…
