Matthew Stephen “Woody” Harrington entered into rest on August 13, 2025 after a 2-year-long battle with Stage 4 esophageal cancer.
Born on October 3, 1963, Matthew’s life was marked by love, dedication, and ceaseless hard work. He is survived by his devoted wife, Christine Harrington, whom he married in 1999, and his cherished daughters, Camille and Olivia Harrington. He is also survived by his mother, Carolyn Harrington, and his brother, Daniel Harrington. Matthew now reunites in heaven with his father, Edward Harrington, and his sister, Joelle Harrington.
A memorial service honoring Matthew’s life will be held on September 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Ascension Lutheran Church. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating his memory.
Born in San Francisco, Woody grew up in Columbia, Maryland, where some of his best memories and friendships were made, before moving back to Southern California in 1990. His professional career began at Hunter Engineering Company in 1999, where his industrious nature and strong work ethic shone through.
Woody loved sipping an IPA while watching the sunset in his backyard, cheering on his favorite teams—the LA Rams, LA Kings, LA Dodgers, and NASCAR—and gathering family for games of Uno or Cards Against Humanity. A man of many interests, he found joy in playing guitar, grilling, camping, and all things classic rock. He loved to be outside, whether hiking, biking, or gardening. He especially loved traveling to Kauai and spending time at the family property in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Known as “Woody” to many, Matthew was thoughtful, hardworking, and deeply caring. A devoted family man and lifelong music lover—especially Led Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd—he embraced the simple pleasures that made life meaningful. Above all, his proudest and most cherished accomplishment was his family, who were always at the center of his world.
Matthew leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and genuine connection. His spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched, and he will be remembered with love and gratitude always.
