Matthew David Goldschmidt, 28, of St. Charles Missouri passed away at his home on Friday, February 5th, 2021. He was born on September 1st, 1992 in Florissant, Missouri, the son of Cindy (York) Goldschmidt and David Goldschmidt and twin brother of Emily Goldschmidt (Stephen Kline). He was a tremendous student, lover of art and animals, and reliable friend. He took pride in his studies, earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Webster University and was actively pursuing his Master of Counseling in Psychology at Lindenwood University. He was a member of Psi Chi (National Honor Society of Psychology) and yearned to help others who battled with drugs, addiction, and mental health problems. In addition to his loving parents and twin sister, he is survived by his grandma; Barbara Goldschmidt, aunts and uncles; Susie and Chuck Kofahl, Jake and Jane York, Joe and Tammy York, Karen and Dan Eilerman, Ronnie and Robin Goldschmidt, Don and Cindy Goldschmidt, and Mark and Susan Goldschmidt, cousins and their families; Nathan Kofahl, Nick Kofahl, Jayson York, Justin York, Jon Franko, Courtney Huskey, Casey York, Ashley Jennings, Erica Goldschmidt, Kyle Goldschmidt, and Ryan Goldschmidt. He is preceded in death by his loving grandparents; Roy “Lefty” and Alma York, and Donald Goldschmidt, as well as his unborn daughter; Lillian Mae (Lauren Pearson). In addition to his family, Matt was loved strongly by several friends and loved ones including Amanda Milner, Lauren Pearson, Zach Barnard, and Drew Lottinger. In celebration of Matthew’s life, a private visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, February 12th, 2021 from 5:00 pm. to 8:00 p.m . with a private funeral service to follow at the funeral home on Saturday, February 13th, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Jayson York as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for a future memorial that is yet to be determined.
