I wish there were words to express the joy Matt brought to our lives. He helped me at one of the hardest times in my life if he wasn't for him I don't know what I would of done back then but I do know I'm in a better place in my life because of him. He was a very special person and I love him dearly for all the help joy and laughter he brought to my life.

My condolences to the family. Matt and I went to church together at Freedom Baptist and his father was our youth leader, I still have a bible given to me from his father. I spent many Sundays with Matt and Kevin picking blackberries and plums after youth group; then eating them during the main service. We were friends outside of church and at that age often spent Sunday between services together or his mom would pick me up on her way home from work on a Friday and I would stay until Sunday. Not sure if my parents would even be back for the evening service Matt would gord me into asking if I could go to his house saying, "if you don't ask, the answer is always no!". We would roam his neighborhood (Player St) joining football games with friends, swimming or playing basketball at Mollohan Park. We got in our fair share of trouble, breaking a window in the local church playing baseball one time and putting M80's in a neighbor's mailbox. Even at Church we couldn't avoid trouble, one time after getting caught throwing stuff in a waste pond Matt, Kevin and I got a nice ride back in a police car. Our fathers were not too happy to see us that day. My first time bowling, sliding rock NC, eating Ramen Noodles and I am sure several others were with and because of Matt. I regret that Matt and I haven't spoken in years. I have kept up with him on Facebook and although the house on Player St. is no longer there, I always point it out to my wife or look for it when I pass and remember the fun times we had. I pray for peace for his family, and I hope he has found peace.

I loved Matthew’s wit. He always talked to me about making him some biscuits and gravy. He was a great guy and will truly be missed. My heart goes out to all who knew and loved him. Prayers for all.
