Mary Knoten-Day “Maylee”
Mary Lee Knoten was born on Feb, 9, 1950 in Natchez Mississippi to the late Roger and Queen Knoten.
On November 22, 2023 surrounded by her beloved sons and grandchildren, Mary peacefully surrendered herself to the lord at Haven Hospice Care Center in Orange Park, Fl.
Mary was the third sibling of ten children. She attend high School in Marrero, La., where she was a graduate of L. W. Higgins. After high School, she attained her surname when she married her husband Napoleon Day II.
To her Marriage and blessed union, begat two Sons; Napoleon Day III and Dwayne Day.
Throughout her life, Mary was a dedicated friend to many. Her professional career included a role at First National Bank for ten Years. Mary then decided to follow her passion of serving others and left to care for the Sick at Wynhoven Community Care Center for the next 20 years, where she was a beloved caregiver that took care and pride in her job.
Mary accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She Was baptized at First African Baptist Church in 1965 by the late Abraham Black – and Later She joined the ST Rock Baptist Church of Harvey La under the leadership of the Rev. Leonard Franklin.
Mary was a sincere and kind person to all she loved and will always be remembered amongst her host of friends, family and loved ones as the one and only Maylee.
She touched so many lives with her laughter, generosity and amazing Sprit. She was simply a woman you had to know, to understand. And If you knew her, and she choose you to be amongst the people she loved, then you know, blood or not, she would always have your back! No matter what!!
And those who know her also know, with all of her kindness and love, Mary was also not the person you wanted want to mess with!! Because if you done wrong, by any of her family, extended family, her Children, her Grandchildren, her godchildren… Then you knew you would have to see the captain.
Mary’s beloved memory will forever be cherished and continue to live on, as she departs from a host of family and friends. Her lineage is survived by her Sons Napoleon Day III and Dwayne Day. Her Eight beloved Grandchildren Napoleon Day IV, Empress, T'Prina II, Hannibal, Hyram, Dylan, Dalys, Stori. and Her Daughter in laws; T' Prina Celestine Day and Tasia Castle-Day.
Her eight Sisters Willie Franklin, Carrie lee Knoten, Katherina Stevens, Shirleyann Knoten, Marie Ambeau, Queen Darrenburg, Patricia Nevaux and Rosemary Buthlong and her one brother Donlee Cotton, Two Godchildren Jerome Davis and Janetha M. Richards. This lineage also includes a host of beloved nieces, nephews Cousins and friends and Devoted Friend Sheila Harris.
