In Loving Memory of Maryann (Rivera) Viars
December 1, 1967 – August 1, 2025
With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and family matriarch, Maryann (Rivera) Viars.
Maryann was a pillar of strength, love, and unwavering devotion. She lived her life for her family and loved them fiercely.
She is lovingly survived by her father, Jorge Rivera, and her five children: Cristina Raschal, William Viars, Nicole Viars, Brian Viars, and Evette Viars. She was a devoted and adoring grandmother to Aniah Patterson, Brandon Patterson, and Ariyah Patterson, who were the light of her life.
She is also survived by her siblings: George Rivera, Roseann Rivera-Mills, Yvette (Rivera) Cruz, Josefina (Rivera) Williams, Michael Rivera, Joseph Rivera, Danny Rivera, and Christopher Torres. In addition, she leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom she loved dearly and who will carry her memory forward.
As the matriarch of her family, Maryann was the glue that held everyone together. Her presence brought warmth, laughter, and love to every gathering. She cherished moments spent with family and carried a deep love for California, where she found peace watching the whales along the coast—a place that always called her home.
Maryann will be remembered for her strength, her unwavering love, and the way she made everyone feel seen and cherished. Her spirit lives on through her children, grandchildren, and every life she touched.
Rest peacefully, Maryann. You will forever be missed.
