Maryann's obituary
Maryann "Betty" Fasig Knowell, widely known as Betty or Nana, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2024. Born on January 18, 1943, Betty's life was a testament to resilience and love. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering positivity will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
She was a loving wife, mother, nana and great nana. She is preceded in death by her amazing smiling, sunshine daughter Shelly, Clay and Valerie Fasig, Woofer and the many other creatures she took in as her own. She loved all of her extended family and welcomed every person as if they were her own blood. Betty was a strong and amazing wife to David. She has been a backbone and a loving, supportive mother to her son Jeff and an endearing stepmother to son Kenneth. With daughter in-laws: Keri and Yari, Grandchildren: Jennifer (Adam), Jessica (Jason), Clayton (Brooke), Kyle, Arlene, Michael, Ethan and Lisel. Great grandchildren: Ayden, Emilee, Julia, Witten, Parker and many more.
She was a woman who believed there was good in everything. She believed in magic and saw the beauty from the smallest bug, flower to the tallest tree. She has written vibrant stories and created a background and brought to life, with an amazing talent, the lives of the animals of Woofers Woods. (If you haven't read it, please do). She created paintings, blankets, photos and gardens. She never allowed her herself to stop learning or moving. Whether it be feeding the animals or tending to her flowers. She taught herself the piano. Took up bee keeping. Successfully, with her loving husband David, made an extensive garden of flowers and vegetables. Betty was in-tune with the world and its beauty more than most people. She was incredibly knowledgeable about all things’ nature, life and most of all love. Betty (Nana) was tickled pink over rainbows and thunderstorms and had the most infectious laugh and warm hugs. I ask you to ingrain her laugh into your memory.
For those who didn’t know, I didn’t get my curly hair from her. She permed! She personally taught me to appreciate the grass under your feet, the energy and healing of the earth, names of plants and flowers, reading can bring you to another world, animals, the rocks and the sky. Dandelions and shooting stars grant wishes. She has taught me you are never too old to have a tea party, throwing rocks in the creek and homemade ice cream are acceptable at any age and any time. I learned how to feed a cow, pigs, chickens and every animal in between. We drove the golf cart at every outing till the battery died and would beg to go again. She took in strays (including mine). She suffered more hardships and losses. She overcame them all as a stronger woman. I could write so much more, but for now say a prayer, thank God you were lucky enough to have her part of your story and memories. At this time there have not been any arrangements made. As soon as something is defined and made, I will be sure to update all. I ask you please respect my (father) Jeffrey and (Grandpa) David with any phone calls or messages, as this is an extremely difficult time. I will be more than happy to speak to whomever regarding any questions or messages. Please reach out to me via Facebook, email jennkeller0517@gmail.com or phone (813) 516-4481. Sending love to you all for peace and knowing one of the greatest angels is watching over you. Please feel free to send me any stories, photos and memories.
With love,
Jennifer
