Mary's obituary
Mary C. Ware, 88, passed away September 10, 2023 at the home of her daughter in Indianapolis. She was born March 24, 1935 to Clinton and Marguerite (Harmon) Crowe in Jefferson County, Kentucky, both of whom preceded her in death. Her childhood years were spent in both Kentucky and Michigan.
Mary and former spouse, Roger Ware, resided in the Meridian-Kessler neighborhood with their family, where she was well-known for her knowledge of herbs, vegetables, fruit bushes and canning, cultivation of “urban gardens”, and raising white fantail pigeons and quail. She helped with the formation of a Saturday morning neighborhood food cooperative. Mary was an avid reader, passionate cook, and lifelong learner. She enjoyed tole painting and caring for her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Julia Ware-Ingermann (Steve) and sons Geoffrey (Jessi) and Jonathan Ware, all of Indianapolis, a sister, Sally VanDeventer, of Michigan and three grandchildren, Owen, Gwen and Spencer Ware.
The family wishes to thank all of the health professionals who cared for Mary.
