Mary's obituary

Mary Ann vonGersdorff, 87, of Riverton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Riverview Estates, surrounded by her loving daughters and granddaughter. She was born on June 12, 1937, in Callicoon, NY, to Everett B. and Bethel M. vonGersdorff.

Mary is survived by her sisters Dorothy Goeddert and Lorraine Kaye, and her brother Dick (Tina) Vaughn. She is also remembered with love by her daughters Kimmerle (John) Martino and Darlene (Kenneth) Cummings, stepchildren Sheree Rohrig and Brian Lashley, and her grandchildren: Jason (Colleen) Martino, Kelsey Martino, Chris Cummings, Thomas (Clarissa) Cummings, Jessica (Ron) Hensler, Jennifer Cummings, Justin and Douglas Rohrig, Nicole and Grant Lashley. She also leaves behind many great-grandchildren, including Mason and Logan Martino, Jakob (Tiffany), Elijah, Silas, Julian, and Isaiah Ailey, Jayden Cummings, Darrell Cummings, Keaira Hensler, James Lashley, and Sophia Lashley, along with numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.

A cherished sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and great-aunt, Mary will be fondly remembered for her warmth, wisdom, kindness, infectious laughter, generosity, and unwavering faith. Her strength, spirit, and love for those around her touched countless lives.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Everett and Bethel (nee Henderson) vonGersdorff, and her husband’s Wayne D. Bieg, Kenneth R. Lashley, and Donald Johnson.

Mary lived a full and vibrant life, deeply committed to her family and community. She was an active volunteer at Riverview Estates, where she served as President of the Auxiliary and as a member of the Board of Trustees. Her contributions to the community were greatly valued. Professionally, Mary had a distinguished career that spanned many fields, including roles as a Certified EMT, bookkeeper, receptionist, office administrator, realtor, relocation specialist, and notary public. In each role, she exemplified professionalism and compassion.

Beyond her work, Mary had many passions. She loved spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an avid reader, a dedicated gardener, and enjoyed traveling and bowling—activities that kept her both mentally and physically active.

A memorial service to honor Mary’s life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Riverview Estates, 303 Bank Avenue, Riverton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riverview Estates at the address listed above.

Mary’s legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.
