Mary's obituary
Mary Diane Velarde, 74, of Richardson, TX, passed away on May 16, 2025. Born on April 13, 1951 Adrian, Michigan, Mary Diane was a lifelong advocate of hard work and a nurturing presence within her family and community.
Mary Diane began her career as an Operator at the Fairmont Hotel in Downtown Dallas, later transitioning to a role as a collection agent. Her tenacity and dedication saw her rise through the ranks to become an Asset Recovery Agent and Skip Tracer, roles she held until her passing.
A devout member of the Catholic community, Mary Diane was actively involved in St Pius X Catholic Church and St Joseph Catholic Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing strength and comfort through her many years.
Mary Diane was a loving mother and a devoted friend. She is survived by her daughters, Michele (Juan) Ugalde and Leslie Robbins; grandchildren, Christopher, JohnPaul (Angela), Gracie (Matt) Webb, Matthew Duncan, and Chelci (Christopher) Colegrove; great-grandchildren, Marcus, Noah, Julianna, JohnPaul II, Anthony, Anthony Duncan, Jazmin, Addison, and Trevor Colegrove. She also leaves behind her brother, Edward (Yolanda) Flores and Sister Rebecca(Daniel) Basquez; nieces, Monica Flores, Crystal Flores, Letecia Gutierrez, and Christine (Carlos) Saenz; nephew, Gabriel Vilson; and many great-grand nieces and nephews. Mary Diane was preceded in death by her father, Matthias Hernandez in 1989; her mother, Betty Hernandez in 2021; and brother, Richard John Barrera in 1993.
Mary Diane found great joy in spending time with her beloved dogs, who were a significant part of her life.
The services to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at St Pius X Catholic Church, 3030 Gus Thomasson, Dallas, TX 75228. The schedule includes a Rosary at 10:00 am followed by Mass from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. A luncheon will be served in the Parish Hall. The day will conclude with a Celebration of Life Sunset Reception from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Big Thicket Whiterock Lake, 430 E Lawther Dr., Dallas, TX 75218.
Mary Diane's life was a testament to her enduring faith and her unwavering commitment to her family and friends. Her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched.
