With heavy hearts, the family of Mary Patterson announces her peaceful passing on November 14, 2025, at the age of 74.

Born in Petty Harbour, Newfoundland, Mary carried the warmth, strength, and humor of her roots throughout her life. She later made Toronto, Ontario, her home, where she built a life filled with love, family, and countless cherished memories.

Mary was the beloved wife of Robert Patterson, with whom she shared 46 wonderful years of marriage. She was a devoted mother to Amanda and her husband Joe Pereira, and Kimberly and her wife Heather Fulton, and a proud grandmother to Kane Pereira, who brought her endless joy.

She is also lovingly remembered by her extended and blended family: Robert Patterson and his wife Leanne; Ron Patterson and his wife Cathy; Brenda Patterson and her late partner Ken Sherman; and Loronda Corbett and her partner Bruce Blundell. Mary was a cherished grandmother to Jennifer Booth and her husband Ryan, Steven Patterson and his wife Jasmin, Josh Corbett, Cassandra Patterson, Ashley Syrnyk and her husband Seth,  Bernadette McKibbon and her husband Shane, and to her great grandchildren, Riley, Charlie, Breanna and Oliver.

Mary is survived by her dear siblings: Randy Hannaford and his wife Debbie; Madeline Hamilton and her husband Mike; Ann Witten and her late husband David; and Edward Hannaford and his late wife Anne.

She was predeceased by her parents, Gertrude and William Hannaford, as well as her brothers Samuel Hannaford and his late wife Margaret, William Hannaford and his wife June, and Marty Hannaford and his late wife Effie.

Mary also shared a lifelong, cherished friendship of more than 40 years with the late Dolly Pippy and her husband Ruben Pippy. Their bond was a constant source of laughter, comfort, and companionship, one that Mary held close to her heart throughout her life.

Mary will be remembered for her generous heart, her unwavering love for her family, and the quiet strength that guided those around her. Her kindness touched many, and her memory will be carried forward through the stories shared, the traditions kept, and the love she leaves behind. She also leaves behind a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends whom she loved dearly.

Her family will carry Mary’s legacy in their hearts forever.
