Mary Ellen Swain

Mary Ellen Swain of Paoli, Indiana, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2022.

Mary was born March 7th, 1937, in Saginaw Michigan to loving parents Edwin and Ellen Hartl.

Mary enjoyed gardening, camping and homemaking. She was well known for her loving hospitality. Many homes of family and friends were blessed over the years with her beautiful embroidery work. She was also very generous with her delicious, canned goods.

She served, along with her family, as a loyal member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses congregation.

Mary was preceded in death by her devoted husband of sixty-three years, Robert (Bob) and her loving daughter Lucinda (Cindy).

She is survived by her brother Theodore Hartl (Edie), daughters, Nancy Germain, Patricia Hill (Thomas), Penny Stiles (Michael) and Danielle Turnquist. Grandsons Joshua Germain (Tiffany) and Jordan Germain; along with many in-laws, nieces and nephews, and numerous “much loved” members of the congregations that she served in over the years.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 2 p.m., with the French Lick, Indiana congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. (Zoom information available)
