Background
With so many books and so little time, in place of flowers, Rowland requests gifts to the Friends of the Albert Carlton - Cashiers Community Library in loving memory of Mary Sue, a book lover, teacher, and voracious reader. Mary Sue and Rowland have enjoyed visiting the Cashiers-Glenville area since 1957, and the library has been a cornerstone in the community. Paid for and built by residents of Cashiers in 1993 and dedicated in 1994. Rowland and Mary Sue have enjoyed perusing the stacks and bringing home a box of books each week to pass the time idly in the mountains. You could find Mary Sue shopping in the bookstore and sharing her love of books with her granddaughters most summers. She introduced the girls to the library and encouraged them to find what interested them. One granddaughter loved to read novels and fantasy literature, while the other preferred non-fiction stories and nature magazines. She and Rowland had their favorites, too, which included detective novels and other crime fiction. Mary Sue especially appreciated the library staff's commitment to providing quality public library services to the Cashiers' area. Please consider supporting the Friends of the Albert Carlton - Cashiers Community Library in loving memory of Mary Sue.
