Mary Elizabeth Sanders Bassett

August 4, 1942 – December 11, 2023

Mary Elizabeth Sanders Bassett, 81, of New Bern, North Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. Born on August 4, 1942, in Bell, Kentucky, Mary was the daughter of Ruby Estelle Mullins and Charles Morgan Sanders. She graduated from Bell High School and carried her strong Appalachian roots and values throughout her life.

Mary’s first marriage was to the late Arthur Edward Anderson (1926–2003), with whom she shared three sons: Arthur Edward Anderson II, Floyd Eric Anderson, and Kenneth Wade Anderson. 

Later in life, Mary settled in New Bern, North Carolina, where she was remarried to Naurward RodJer Bassett. 

Mary is survived by her husband, Naurward; her three sons, Arthur, Floyd, and Kenneth.

Mary will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love and gratitude.
