Mary's obituary
Mary Quirk Pappas, beloved artist and mother to six, died the evening of Monday, May 24th, 2020. Mary passed after a long struggle with COVID-19 infection where she maintained her fiery personality and was described by her nurses as a “hoot” whose “smile brightens up the room”.
Mary was born on March 18th,1937 in Holyoke Massachusetts to parents Louise and Charles Quirk. She attended the Newton College of the Sacred Heart where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish in 1958. A long time resident of Springfield, MA she also lived in Saratoga Springs, NY, Holyoke, MA, Andover, MA, Swampscott, MA and Longmeadow, MA. She had a passion for painting and would bring joy to those she loves through her artwork.
She is survived by her six children, Daniel Maney Jr and his wife Allison, Louise Seay and her husband Steven, Charlie Maney and his wife Celine, Maria Maney, Michael Maney, Elizabeth Cameron and her husband Phil; her grandchildren, Tyler Maney, Ashley Maney, Katie Hastings, Julie Quinn, Hannah Seay, Abigail Seay, Audrey Maney-Hernandez, Madeleine Maney, Aidan Maney, Cole Destavin, Mitchell Destavin, Madison Cameron, Aaron Maney, Zoe Maney, Nick Maney and Natalie Maney; her great grandchildren, Olivia Hastings, Sophia Hastings, Charlotte Hastings, Bradley Quinn, and Parker Quinn; and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 29 years, Stephen Pappas, in 2015. Her death was followed by that of her former husband, Daniel Maney, on August, 8th of 2020.
A service will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in her honor to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital.
