Mary's obituary
Mary Plaza, a radiant soul known for her compassionate and loving nature, was born on September 7, 1950. She transitioned peacefully on July 5, 2023, leaving behind an enduring legacy of kindness and generosity.
Holder of a positive and realistic outlook on life, Mary was best described as shy at first, yet kind and loving to those around her. She adored the simple joys of life, like biting into a juicy cheeseburger and sipping on a vanilla shake or Coke from McDonalds, while watching her favorite TV shows: American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, and a variety of Lifetime features.
Being a lifelong supporter of the Chicago Cubs and Bears, Mary's love for sports was unparalleled, but it was only surpassed by her love for sun tanning, shopping, and spending quality time with family. Keen on unwinding and letting her hair down on vacation, Cancun, Mexico, was her go-to holiday spot.
One to exhibit the beauty of patience, understanding, and endless love, Mary devoted her life to the well-being of her children Shannon and Brandon, and tried to provide them with the best life she could. She firmly believed in the power of forgiveness, often reminding us all that "life is too short to hold grudges". Her proudest accomplishment was her enduring love and care for her family.
Mary is survived by her cherished children, daughter Shannon Sovsky and son Brandon Orlando; her sisters Deborah Hedrick, Karen Orlando, Arlene Stowell; and her brothers Dale and Tommy Angellotti and Kenny Angellotti. Along with all of the nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, Emedigo Angellotti and Sylvia Kotila; her sister Diane Frissel; her brothers, Dennis Angellotti, Sonny Angellotti; and her son-in-law, Jayson Sovsky.
Adorned in her favorite color, yellow, Mary's personality shone like the sun, adding warmth and comfort to those around her. Her selflessness marked her personality and her memory will be treasured by all her loved ones. The loss of Mary is deeply mourned, especially by her devoted children, Shannon and Brandon.
In her memory, we are reminded of the valuable life lesson Mary taught us – to live without resentment, to love without condition, and to enjoy the simple things in life. Her legacy continues within each heart she touched, eternally binding all those who were privileged to know her.
