Mary's obituary

Mary was born in County Galway, Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day, 1924. She left to be with our Heavenly Father January 31, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Michael, seven brothers and sisters and many brothers and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her daughter, Anne Thomasmeyer of Roseville and son-in-law Bill, granddaughters Eileen Speaker (Joe), Grace Thomasmeyer and Mary Thomasmeyer and great-granddaughters Delia Rose and Molly Marie Speaker. She is also survived by her beloved sister Anne McDonagh and several nieces and nephews: Michael (Denise) Devane and Philip (Shelley) Devane of Massachusetts, Brid (Christy) Connolly of Ireland, Brian (Lori) McDonagh of Nevada, Kathleen (Jim) Mullesch of Castro Valley and Michael (Nicole) McDonagh of North Carolina, as well as several great-nephews and nieces.

Mary was a proud employee of Western Electric in San Leandro for 30 years. She was renowned for her devotion to her grandchildren, her love of taking long walks in the hills around Lake Chabot, her gardening and needlework skills and her delicious cakes. We are very grateful she lived to see her great-grandchildren.

We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Domnita’s Homecare in Roseville who lovingly cared for Mary starting in November of 2016 until her passing. Prior to her moving to Roseville Fe Valencia and Ina Cortez also provided devoted care in Mary’s home, where she lived independently until she was almost 93. We’d also like to thank the Joy and Peter of Sutter Hospice and Tammy and Rafael of Vitas Hospice for their care.
