I’m so very sorry to read about Mary. We were friends for a very long time in our youth but drew apart when her life took her out west. My father always called her “Martha O’Hoolahan”. We had many great times together, beers at the Oxbox, dances at school, fun at the beach at Grand Bend. Truly a great person gone for now. Condolances .
I was Mary's neighbour in Windsor Woods for many years. She helped me through a few tough times and always had a lovely smile and a 'now tell me - how are you doing?' I will miss her.
Mary & I met through the thin wall between our bathrooms at the ole Rock Sea Apts on Marine Drive in White Rock. I heard her singing and we met one morning chatting between the wall. It would have been more perfect if the medicine cabinet were open (Like an old commercial) so we could meet face to face. Needless to say, we became fast friends and neighbors. Many Christmas trips to/from YVR from White Rock on snow white nights when Mary went home to London Ontario. In those days she was K teacher, always a project for the kids, music, singing, a real DIY. A marvel for every child and parent if Mary was their teacher.
Mary and I continued our friendship from there on, with many more moves in Vancouver, from those early White Rock days. So many memories to cherish from that first encounter. My kindred and lifelong friend always. You enriched my life dear friend.
Always a twinkle in her eye, and a twitchy mischievous smile. I’m so happy Mary met Gary her “Love of her Life”. Two soul mates meant to happen.
My heartfelt love to Gary and family, and all of Mary’s family in London Ontario.
I worked with Mary in Delta schools for about five years and knew her for much longer. She was a constant source of joy and radiance and always could see the positive in challenging situations. Upon hearing the news, it was like a bright light had been extinguished. I'm so thankful for the friendship we shared. Her memory takes me right back to the bright light that was her. It lives on. Love and best wishes to you, Gary.
