Mary's obituary

It is with great sadness, we share that our loving mother, Mary Eva Mendoza, passed away on May 27th, 2023, at the age of 94, surrounded by family members in Sun City, Arizona. Mary joined our father Blass Mendoza, who passed in 2006 after sharing over fifty years of marriage together.

Mary was born on November 25, 1928, in Litchfield, Arizona, to Angelita and Alberto Arce. Mary was the youngest of her siblings. Most of her upbringing was in the Litchfield and Avondale area. She devoted her life to her husband and seven children as a housewife. As the matriarch of our family, she was an incomparable woman of wisdom and guidance, she would provide a listening ear to anyone who needed it. A devout Catholic, she lived her faith and prayed constantly for those who she loved. Though she was a devout Catholic, she accepted our different beliefs with a smile. As a centenarian, she was born at the tail-end of one pandemic and outlived another. She went through the Depression and WW11. She had many stories to tell. She loved watching Mexican soap operas. She also loved watching NFL football every season--an avid Arizona Cardinals fan!

She was survived by her oldest sister of 97 years old Julia and seven children and their spouses, Blass Jr (Becky), Nora (Bob), Frank, Sylvia (George), Justine (Ruben), Denise (Rodrigo) Chastity (Gabriel). She has 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family of Mary Mendoza will be honoring her for interment. Visitation/Viewing on Sunday, June 11, 2023, 5:00 - 7 p.m. at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd. Scottsdale, Arizona 85251. There will be a Special Mass in celebration of Mary on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at St, Bernard of Clairvaux Church, 10755 N 124th Street, Scottsdale, Arizona 85259,  followed by the burial at Paradise Memorial Gardens, 9300 E. Shea Blvd, Scottsdale, Arizona 85260, as she will rest with her beloved husband.
