Mary's obituary

Mary Monica (Marshall) Collins, age 89 of Cranston Rhode Island, passed away peacefully accompanied by her son and daughter-in-law on Saturday, July 23 at 8:24pm at “The Cedars” in Cranston .

Mary was born November 13, 1932 in Providence Rhode Island. She spent most of her life in Cranston Rhode Island, several of her senior years in The Villages of Lady Lakes Florida and returned to Cranston in the Fall of 2020 after the passing of her husband LeRoy E. Collins (May 23, 2020).

Mary enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home, a round of golf, going out to dinner with her friends at The Villages, reading her Bible, attending church, decorating her home during the holidays, having her adult children and their families in for visits, cooking hearty meals, baking batches of her amazing assorted Christmas cookies for friends and family, and traveling. Mary traveled with her Husband abroad to Italy and in her younger years to the mountains in the northeast for skiing. She took in a cruise or two during her senior years and while a mom of 3 young children spent time in Chicago visiting with her parents and siblings. Mary loved Florida where both her and Roy spent many a beach day along the coast of Daytona Beach.

Mary is survived by her children Roy Collins (Nova) in Georgia, John Collins (Loraine) in Rhode Island, Therese Shelesky (Steve) in Colorado, her sister Cathy Mansfield (Bob) in Georgia, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild on the way. She also leaves behind many caring nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In death, Mary is reunited with her husband LeRoy E. Collins a Veteran, her parents Herbert and Rose Marshall and siblings Herbert Marshall, Joseph Marshall and John Marshall.

An intimate celebration of life reception will be held on Wednesday September 14th, 2022 at Antonio’s trattoria, 1710 Cranston Street, Cranston RI, 02920 from 2pm to 4pm.
