Mary's obituary

Mary Margaret Peddycoart (née Dottarar), aged 82, was born on July 7, 1942. She passed away on July 15, 2024, in Canton, GA surrounded by her son, daughter and grandson.

Mary grew up in Ohio. According to her childhood friends from junior high, she is described as a true friend; fun and kind. Mary graduated from Kent University, where she studied art history. From time to time she would even draw or sketch. But it was time with her family and friends that she cherished, and she found joy in simple pleasures like watching TV and playing with her pets. She loved Christmas and Christmas lights. She loved animals and really hated seeing trees cut down. Her favorite treats were coffee and chocolate.

The last 2 years had been hard on her when a fall resulted in her being in a wheelchair. But she never gave up on being able to walk again. In fact, she was getting PT a month before she died. Mary didn't like everyone the moment that she met them but once she did, she was a lifelong friend. She treated her son's and daughter's friends as if they were her own. Everyone taking care of her these past 2 years would describe her as spunky and fiesty but also hilarious and caring. She looked small but she was tough. She was also honest, kind and generous. On her worst day, she was always more worried about everyone else. Even in the hospital she was always asking how everyone else was, while saying get me out of here.

Mary is survived by her son, Jeffrey Peddycoart and his wife, Vasy; her daughter, Jennifer Cook and her husband, Curtis; and her grandchildren, MacKenzie Peddycoart, Leyton Peddycoart, Wyatt Cook, Erin Cook, Camden Peddycoart, and Mason Peddycoart. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Dottarar; mother, Margarette Dottarar; and sister, Deborah Dottarar.

Additional surviving family are: Laura and Doug Strong, Anjie and Jon Suter, Jimmy Hahn, Zach Suter, Nick Suter, Chuck and Nan Peddycoart, Joe and Mady Peddycoart. Too many friends to list.

She was the best mom, sister, aunt and friend. We will all miss her very much.

A celebration of life will be held to celebrate Mary's life on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Deer Run West Upper Clubhouse, 7032 Hunters Ridge Woodstock GA 30189 from 11am-2pm. All who knew her are welcome to drop in and share memories of a Mary, along with some of her favorite snacks.
