Mary Lynn Spencer, 76, of Missoula, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Providence St. Patrick Hospital as a result of a stroke that occurred the previous day.

Mary was born on November 20, 1947, to Vera and Clarence Harris.  Always eager to travel, she called South Dakota, Wyoming, Oregon, West Virginia, and Montana homes throughout her life.

She was an exceptional baker and cook from both professional and personal standpoints. She was a trainer and manager at Target and worked at Three Rivers Casino in Oregon when she retired. With such a gift for the culinary arts, it’s no surprise that Mary loved to go out for meals with her friends and family, loved to garden, and loved the simplicity of gifts like the perfect summer tomato or toast and coffee with the people she loved. Other things she enjoyed were collecting teapots and purses and delighting in the people around her.

Mary was a strong, independent, and witty woman of the rarest kind, and she exemplified an ability to befriend that most people simply don’t possess, and she will be deeply missed.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Vera and Clarence, and her brother John “Jack” Harris. She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa, Oklahoma, and Rebecca, Montana and many other friends and family

Per her request (and her consistent reluctance to make herself the center of attention), formal services will not be held, but considering her love of gathering with those close to her, you are encouraged to spend some time close to someone you love and share stories together.
