Mary's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Llacer-Salcedo on January 7, 2024. Born on June 9, 1964, she was a beacon of light, loved by many for her generous, lively, and eccentric personality.
Predeceased by her parents, Eva Llacer and Ben-hur Salcedo, niece Emilie Bolaños, and nephew Ben-hur Atutubo, her spirit lives on through her surviving family. She is survived by her daughters Jacqueline Stewart and Erika Stevermer, her beloved siblings Mary Anne, Eva Marie, Victor, Noel, and Jundo. Her legacy also continues through her precious grandchildren Sophia, Blake, Olivia Somerville, and Cole Stevermer.
Whenever she could, she spent time with family whether it was lavish vacations, shopping, or staying home watching a good thriller movie. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, and singing and sharing that with the world. She was an avid traveler who took pride in bringing her cats along for the journey. These joyful moments were some of her most cherished memories. Mary's love for family was evident in everything she did, and her children and grandchildren were her proudest accomplishments.
Armed with her degree in Accounting and Economics from Fayetteville State University, she began a rewarding career at USAID OIG on June 9, 2006. Mary was not just a diligent worker but a woman who devoted a considerable amount of her time working for the less fortunate. She actively volunteered with the homeless and sponsored many children in the Middle East and Africa, further reflecting her generous and nurturing nature.
Mary's life philosophy was that to always be thankful, no matter how little you have, and to keep giving whenever you can. Her vibrant character, quirky sense of humor, and her inexhaustible generosity will be sorely missed, but her lessons and love for life will remain in our hearts forever.
