Mary's obituary

We mournfully announce the passing of Mary S. Lawrence Bines, 81, of Swainsboro, GA. Mary passed away on April 15, 2022.

Mary, born to the late Richard Arthur and Leola Palmer Lawrence, Sr., took her first breath on August 04,1940  in Emanuel County.  Mary was a force to be reckoned with from the get go, graduating from Emanuel County High School in Swainsboro, Georgia in 1959.   She was also a member of Swainsboro's first women's state championship basketball team.  At an early age, she joined the Rountree Island Baptist Church and served faithfully as a member and president of the Usher Board and as Bookkeeper of the Independent Benevolent Society.

After graduating from high school, Mary worked in various locations which included Fort Lauderdale, Florida and New York City,  New York.  She then moved to Atlanta, Georgia and continued to work in the banking industry for several years.  After that she became a property manager for the HJ Russell Company, retiring after 16 years of service.  In 1997 Mary married Rutherford Rudolph Bines, who preceded her in death.

Her passions included playing card games, and Bingo.  Also, Mary was an avid baseball fan with an affinity for the Atlanta Braves.  She had a flare for TV and could be found watching Family Feud and or Perry Mason on a daily basis.

While Mary  lived a full and vibrant life with more friends than you could count, her  nephews and nieces meant more to her than words can describe.  When Mary retired, she  devoted most of her time to being with her brothers and sisters,  supporting her nephews and nieces as they grew.

Mary leaves her precious memories to be cherished by many including three sisters: Robbie, Callie(Henry Wiggs) and her twin sister Martha; five brothers, Eddie, Richard(Edna), John, Rosie(Princess), Bob(Tyice) and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.  She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Grace and Pearl.

We all will miss her dearly.
