Mary Jo Kenney ,86, passed in peace on Feb.23, 2020. She was born in Reading, PA to David and Mary (Althouse) Hoffman Feb. 9,1934. Mary Jo married James R. Kenney in 1957 and had 2 children. She was a talented individual with a passion for music. Mary Jo studied voice and piano from a young age,becoming an accomplished pianist and lyric soprano. After graduating from Reading Senior High School, she attended Elizabethtown College and West Chester State Teacher's College, pursuing a career in music. She decided to interrupt her studies to start a family,but her training in vocal studies ,continued. Mrs. Kenney peformed in several venues, throughout the Delaware Valley, singing solo concerts and a variety of ensembles. Later in life, she offered her talents to students of all ages ,teaching voice and piano. She taught at community schools in Wilmington,DE, Wyomissing,Pa and at the Univ. of the Arts in Phila. Her love of music would ,however, be eclipsed by the love for her family. Mary Jo Kenney is survived by her daughter Mary Jo ,son James , son-in-law Bradley and her most adored grandson ,Joshua. Services will be held March 21st at noon at the Brandywine Baptist Church ,Chadds Ford, PA
