Jean's obituary
In Loving Memory of Mary "Jean" Moon April 30, 1939 – June 5, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jean, who left us on June 5, 2025. Born on April 30, 1939, Jean's life was defined by a spirit that refused to be dimmed by any challenge. Despite the difficulties she faced, she lived her life with an unwavering zest, joy, and deep love for her family.
Jean is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Debra Dubey, her son, Greg Moon, son-in-law, David Johnston, and her cherished grandchildren, Evan and Landon Dubey. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, David and Tammy Dix, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Moon.
Jean’s presence was a gift, one that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Her indomitable spirit, contagious optimism, and boundless love for her family and community touched so many lives. Even in a wheelchair or scooter, Jean’s love for life never wavered. She could often be found outdoors, tending to her flowers, which were her pride and joy. Her annual flower shopping trips were one of the simple pleasures that brought her happiness, especially in the spring.
An avid photographer, Jean loved capturing life through her lens. Whether it was her playful cats or the birds visiting her yard, her camera was always by her side, preserving the beauty of the world around her. Her pictures are a testament to her keen eye for detail and her deep appreciation for the little things that made life beautiful.
Jean’s positivity was truly contagious. She faced every day with grace, humor, and a heart full of love. No matter the circumstances, she found joy in the simplest moments—whether it was a flower blooming, a bird perched on a fence, or a shared laugh with friends and family.
Though we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the remarkable life she led. We are better for having known her, and her memory will continue to inspire us to embrace life with the same joy, resilience, and love that she did.
A social gathering in Jean’s honor will be held on August 8, 2025, from 12–2 pm at the VFW Post 4249, located at 45 Gene Furgason Ln, Newaygo, MI. We invite all who knew and loved Jean to come share memories, offer condolences, and celebrate the life of an extraordinary woman.
