Mary Scott Hughes (Sonaglia) died Saturday evening (8/19/23) at home with her family after a short illness with cancer. She was 61 years old.

Mary graduated from Marquette Senior High School, Northern Michigan University and Wayne State University School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse for her sister for over 20 years in Fort Lauderdale, FL, Negaunee, MI and Grosse Pointe, MI. After that, she worked at her brother’s business in Detroit, MI until May of this year.

She is survived by her daughter Kimberly Scott Hughes, her siblings Catherine, James (Elizabeth) and Janet Sonaglia, along with her nephews Alexander and David Sonaglia, and her nieces Juliet and Victoria Sonaglia.

A celebration of life will be held for Mary in Grosse Pointe, MI on Sunday the 27th of August, 2023 for the extended family.

A memorial service will also be held in the Chapel at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Marquette, MI on Saturday the 23rd of September, 2023 at 3pm.
