Mary's obituary
Ms. Mary Jo Holder, 78, of South Avery Road, Rome, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 5, 2008 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.
She was born December 31, 1929 in Floyd County, daughter of the late William C. and Rosa Pearl Evans Butler. Along with her parents she is also preceded in death by two brothers, William C. Butler Jr. and James A. Butler.
Ms. Holder was a lifelong member of the Pisgah Baptist Church where she participated in the Joy Club, the Shoebox Ministry and other activities. She was retired from Customer Service at Georgia Power where she worked for over thirty years.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Ricky Reid; sons and daughter-in-law, James "Mike" and Penny Holder, and Isaac Holder all of Rome; grandchildren, Cody and Kyle Holder, Crystal Smith, and Jacob Reid; great-grandchildren, Hogan, Braden, and Collin Smith; one brother, Jerry D. Butler of Rome; special friends, Betty Wiseman, Eleanor Williams, and Frieda Mitchell, along with many other friends that could not all possibly be listed; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services for Ms. Mary Jo Holder will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. from the Pisgah Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Dudley officiating. Ms. Holder will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour. Interment will follow at the Euharlee Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Bartow County.
Pallbearers are requested to meet at the church on Saturday by 10:30 P.M. and include Mac Wilson, Doc Hardin, Bill Loveless, Ed Swanson, and her grandsons, Jacob Reid, Cody and Kyle Holder.
The family will receive friends at the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home on Friday, March 7, 2008 between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
