Mary's obituary

Mary Healy-Hacker, 75, of Dunnellon, FL passed away of Alzheimer's dementia on January 13, 2023 . She was surrounded by her family and loved ones.  

Mary was born in Detroit Michigan to John and Dorothy Healy. ...Mary had beautiful loving grandparents Grandpa Sam and Grandma Jane Healy who doted over her... Mary had a large family 5  sisters and one brother....

..She attended Thomas M. Cooley High School and Graduated in 1964.  Shortly after graduation in 1964 she married LeRoy C Woods and had 3 children "Brenda 1965, Barbara 1966 and LeRoy Woods II 1967"  

 In 1974, Mary graduated from the Detroit Police Academy and served as a Detroit Police Officer.   In 1979 she left the Detroit Police Department and moved to Yankeetown Florida to be closer to her family.   In 1981 she moved to Houston, Tx to begin work with her sister at their family Auto dealership.   While in Houston, Tx.  Mary met Richard D Hacker and shortly after meeting, they were married, left TX and purchased a home together in Dunnellon Fl. 

In March of 1987, Mary became a first time Grandmother with the birth of Erick Dustin Carillon, her second grandchild Christy Jane Sullivan was born in Dec 1987 many more grandchildren (Jon,Daus, Sean,Rachael, Samantha, Jennifer & Hunter )and great grands  (Braelyn, Audrianna, Isaiah, Sofia, Noah and Caleb) would soon follow & more on the way... Mary was also blessed with many nieces and nephews...

Christy and Mary shared a very close grandmother and granddaughter bond.   Mary's Alzheimer's disease, progressed after she broke her hip in a fall in 2020, it is then that Christy took Mary into her home and began actively advocating on her behalf for Health Care, benefits and financial support.  Together the two of them were a force to be reckoned with.  

In the end Mary's life can be summed up with one quote by Anna Funder " She was brave and strong and she was broken all at once."
