Mary's obituary
Mary Gene Depew was born August 1st 1936 to Mary Oliver & Eugene Alto Marsh in Montgomery Alabama.
Marygene was raised by her loving Mother and step father Monty Evans, who she dearly loved and admired,
along with her amazing Grandmother Ann Hope Oliver.
Marygene Depew was born and raised in Montgomery Alabama, she attended The University of Montevallo where she was a "Gold Cheerleader" and graduated with a Biology Degree in 1956. Marygene always had very fond memories of her college years, where she spent many fun days with her very Best Friend and roommate Faye Sasser. Marygene actually set Faye up with her husband that she is still married to this very day.
Marygene also met her husband David Ernest Depew of Peekskill New York, a West Point graduate, as a blind date at a debutante ball while at Montevallo, they were married in 1958.
The newly wed couple then moved to Okinawa Japan in 1960 where David served in the Military for 3 years - they welcomed their first child Ann Hope Depew there in 1961. After 3 years in Japan they returned to Huntsville Alabama where Marygene and David prepared to become missionaries in Thailand and their 2nd child was born in 1966, David Mitchell Depew.
Marygene & David Depew & two children moved to Chiang Mai Thailand as missionaries in 1967, soon after moving to Thailand they welcomed their son James Philip Depew in 1968. They spent over 15 years living in Cheingmai & Bangkok Thailand as missionaries.
Marygene Depew was very involved in helping the Thai people in small Villages, setting up churches and working with the beautiful children of Thailand. She was fluent in the Thai language and loved living in Thailand and being a missionary. Eventually the family moved back to the US where she spent the rest of her working life with churches teaching children, in both Texas and Alabama, but her heart was always in Texas where she spent her remaining years.
She is survived by, David E. Depew, her daughter Anna Depew Woloshko, her son James P. Depew, her niece Brindlea Wilson Griffin, Bindlea's daughter Lena Lemieux Dawkins and her very best friend Faye Sasser Dawson.
Marygene Depew joyous happy nature, beautiful smile and her loving kind heart for others will be very missed by all her family and friends. Her incredible dedication & strong bond with her heavenly father was an inspiration to many.
Rest in Peace my loving Mother - I love you.
