Mary's obituary
Mary Frances “Stapp” Cox peacefully transitioned on January 20, 2025, at Lee’s Summit Place in Lee’s Summit, Missouri at the age of 88. Mary Frances was born on June 30, 1936, in Gallatin, Missouri to Cecil and Margaret Stapp, as an only child.
Mary Frances professed a belief in Jesus Christ at an early age, attending many Methodist Churches. She received her formal education in Gallatin, Missouri. After graduating from Gallatin High School, Mary Frances went on to attend Missouri Western College in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Mary Frances married Donald (Don) Cox on November 5, 1955. They relocated to Kansas City, Missouri. To this union, three children were born. Mary Frances was a stay-at-home mother raising her children. After her children were able to attend school, Mary Frances took several jobs outside of the home. She worked at Sears & Roebuck, Oakley United Methodist Church, Eagle Chevrolet and retired from Carter Water in April 2020 after giving 25 years of dedicated service. In her leisure time, Mary Frances enjoyed reading books, knitting, and taking care of her family. She was happiest seeing her family together.
Mary Frances is proceeded in death by her husband Don, her parents Cecil and Margaret Stapp. She is survived by her three children John (Diane) Cox, Leland (Sherry Zeller) Cox, and Donna Cox. Grandchildren: Donnie (Andrea) Cox, Providenza (Chad) Justus, Lia (Shaun King) Cox, LeAnn (Kip) Krupka, and Brett Dyer-Zeller. Also, Mary Frances leaves to mourn 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Mary Frances (mom and grammy) showed her family strength, and love, which they will forever carry in their hearts. Mary Frances smile, and kind nature will always be remembered. She is no longer in pain and has been reunited after 15 years with her love, Don of 54 years.
Mary Frances Celebration of Life will be on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Northland Christian Church, 6120 NE 48th Street, Kansas City, MO 64119. There will be no service afterwards. The family asks each guest to say their own personal prayer for Mary Frances.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to: Ascend Hospice, 783 NE Anderson Lane, Lee’s Summit, MO 64064.
