Mary's obituary
Born on July 15, 1941, in Celeste, Texas, to Lee Fugitt and Nanny Sumrow Fugitt, Mary embraced life as a devoted homemaker. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mary shared 58 eventful years of marriage with her husband, Hubert Carter, celebrating their anniversary just days before her passing.
Mary’s vibrant spirit shone through in her many passions. She found joy in decorating for Christmas and fall, creating warm and festive memories for her loved ones. An exceptional cook and baker, she delighted in preparing meals that brought family and friends together. Her hobbies included gardening, watching cooking shows, crocheting, quiltmaking, flower arranging, playing dominoes, working puzzles, solving crossword puzzles, and exploring coloring books. She also enjoyed discovering new restaurants and cuisines. Her whimsical and fun-loving nature brought smiles to everyone around her.
Mary is survived by her husband Hubert Carter; her children Kenneth Lowe, Brian Carter, Stephanie Uribe, Brandon Carter, and Amy Darling; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and granddogs. She was preceded in death by her parents; one great-grandchild, Corbin Uribe; her sisters Joanne Patterson (and husband Pat) and Betty Nan Wrinkle (Susie); her brothers William Lee Fugitt (Buddy) and Jerry Fugitt; and nephews Stephen Allard and Johnny Fugitt Sr.
A memorial service to honor Mary’s life will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Crestview Christian Church Community bulding at 5605 Wesley Street in Greenville, Texas. Reverend Phillip Dukes will officiate.
Mary’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her as they celebrate the warmth and joy she brought into their lives.
