Mary's obituary
Mary Frances Fischer of Delafield, Wisconsin, found peace on Saturday, December 9. Born on June 15, 1921, in Farnhamville, Iowa, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Clara Glick, and her beloved husband of 69 years, Ned Emil Fischer, who passed away on July 13, 2013. Mary was also preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters: Jack (Irene and Geni) Glick, Jake (Peg) Glick, Ernie (Carolyn) Glick, Gayle (Don) Killion, Elaine (Bob) Barker, and Herb (Kathy) Glick and her son-in-law, Len Perkins. Mary was the proud mother of her daughter, Dian Perkins and son, Brian (Eileen) Fischer. Mary was also blessed with six grandchildren: Tammy (Daniel) DeMarco, Michael (Turchimeg) Perkins, Steven (Kristin) Perkins, Connor (Rachel) Fischer, Brennen (Sarah) Fischer, and Kendra (Tyler) Kinnick.. Mary is also great-grandmother to seven beloved children: Dylan DeMarco, Delaney DeMarco, John Cameron Perkins, Gavin Perkins, Juniper Perkins, Ivy Perkins and Leona Perkins.
Mary was born in Iowa and moved with her family to Mt. Carmel, IL, where the family had a farm. She met her future husband, Ned, in a calculus class at the University of Illinois where she was a math major. After Ned's return from World War II, he completed his Architectual and Engineering degrees at the University of Illinois where they had their daughter, Dian, and then moved to Wauwatosa, WI, where Ned's parents lived. They later moved to Brookfield, WI, where they raised their children and joined the Brookfield Methodist Church. After both children went on to college, they built and moved to their dream house on Lake Nagawicka in Delafield, WI, where they spent the remainder of their lives.
Mary dedicated her life to her family and worked with her husband in his architectural business after her children were attending school full time. She enjoyed traveling; gardening; all water activities including water skiing, fishing, and swimming; downhill and cross-country skiing; camping, following the stock market and playing bridge. She especially enjoyed teaching others how to water ski. Services will be private. The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
