Mary's obituary
Mary Elston Pell gained her angel wings on November 20, 2022 at her home in Richland, WA. Mary spent 93 wonderful years spreading joy to any and all around her. A comfort to many and a joy to all, most of her time was spent taking care of her family, her friends, and her community.
Mary, born on March 28, 1929 to Glen and Elizabeth Elston in Los Angeles, immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. As a girl, Mary loved reading and scouting, two passions she would pass on to all 3 of her sons.
Ever adventurous, Mary always enjoyed going anywhere, whether that was the corner store or across the country.
After graduating from the Illinois Soldiers and Sailors Children's School in Normal, IL, Mary went on to become a medical lab technician, a career she enjoyed for over 40 years.
Mary enjoyed singing and dancing which is where she met Gene, when he was supposed to ask her to a dance for a friend but was so smitten by her he asked her himself. The two were inseparable from that point on. Mary and Gene were married in 1951 and continued to enjoy singing and dancing together for over 67 years. They had 3 sons, Tom, Richard Lee and Don.
Mary was a fiercely dedicated Mom and Nana. Family came first and was above all else to Mary, a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.
Mary is survived by her children, Tom Pell of Richland and Don Pell of Garland, Texas, her brother Ray Elston of Casselberry, Florida, her grandchildren Angela Livingston of Richland, Thomas Pell of Olympia and Jason Pell of Richland, and her three great-grandchildren Jarrod, Julian and Jordan as well as countless friends. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Gene, her parents, Glen and Elizabeth Elston, her brother, Victor Elston and her sister Alice Gomez, and her son Richard Lee. Private services will be held at Einan's.
