Mary's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary West, affectionately known as "Grandma Mary," on October 14, 2023. Born on December 29, 1929, Mary lived a full life touched by numerous blessings and marked by immense love for her family.
She is remembered fondly by her grandchildren, Christi and Vera Contreras, LaDonna Carillo, Regina Shirley, Keith Cori and Keith Jr Contreras, Shelby Clay, Terrance and Quinzell Foy, Ebony,Savannah, and Dillion West, Jared Shirley, Shawn and James Yeager, Brian Smith, Ivry Woods Jr along with his family Ta-Nyiah and Ivee Woods, Naomi, Aubrey, Kaisyn Yeager, and Diane M Garcia(Yeager) along with Meloni, Marcus Dean, Natalie, Yuriah, Vanvliet. She is also survived by her children, Georgette, Charles West , Dennis West, and Carl Biggs.
Pre-decaesed by her parents Ed and Opal (Durham) Cox. Her daughter Jo Sanders, and Great Great grandson Anthony Sanchez lovingly precedes her in passing. Mary was known for her quick wit and playful sarcasm, lighting up any room she entered with her vibrant personality. She held the belief that prayer held immense power and often imparted this wisdom to those she loved.
Among her greatest accomplishments, Mary was most proud of her extensive family, having held the honor of being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and even a great-great-grandmother. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
The spirit of Mary will be remembered in her legacy, "Pray, pray, pray, God will answer!". Many will recall the fond memories of searching for cans in dumpsters or picking pecans from the yard as symbolic of Mary's resourcefulness and resilience.
A memorial service for Mary will be held on October 28, 2023, at 10:00 PM at Guthrie. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in celebrating her life and cherishing our memories of her.
