Mary Ellen's obituary
Mary Ellen Grossman, an adored mother, grandmother, and friend, passed peacefully on December 12, 2024. She was surrounded by the love of her family at the time of her passing.
Mary Ellen is survived by her daughter, Andrea Olson (Ryan); her son, Craig Grossman; and her five grandchildren, Noah, Frannie, Cooper, Lucy, and Cayden. She was preceded in death by her parents, Josephine and Edwin McCormick, her siblings, Elizabeth and Jim McCormick, and her son, Kevin Grossman.
Mary Ellen was known for her unwavering love and contagious sense of humor. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and always looked forward to hearing about their lives. A generous spirit, she gave selflessly to others, even when she had little to give herself. Later in life, she became affectionately known as "BINGO," a game she enjoyed playing with friends, savoring the laughter and connection it brought.
Mary Ellen graduated from high school in 1964 and, in 1980, while raising three children, returned to school to earn her License in Practical Nursing (LPN). She devoted 30 years to caring for elderly patients, providing compassionate and dedicated care. Mary Ellen bravely battled cancer in 2008 and again in 2010, each time showing extraordinary courage and strength.
Mary Ellen’s legacy lives on through the foundation she built for her children and grandchildren—a legacy grounded in kindness, love, and teaching the importance of caring for others. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew her.
A visitation to honor Mary Ellen’s life will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Hosanna Church in Lakeville, followed by a private family service.
