Mary's obituary
Mary Elizabeth Walker
February 18, 1933 – November 9, 2025
Mary Elizabeth Walker, daughter of Paul Morris and Nannie Sue Claybrook of Trenton, Tennessee, was called home to her eternal rest on November 9, 2025.
Known lovingly as “Elizabeth” to her friends and family and “Mommo” to her grandchildren—she was a kind and gentle soul who grew up on a farm in West Tennessee. She carried that simple, strong country spirit with her throughout her life, even as her journey took her far from those rural roots.
Elizabeth met the love of her life, Empson E Walker of Brownsville, Tennessee, and together they built a beautiful life and marriage that spanned 67 years. They moved six times before settling in Dallas, Texas, where they spent most of their lives.
A devoted wife and mother, Elizabeth, raised four children with steady love, faith and strength. She was the anchor of her husband’s life, his steadfast partner through marriage, business ventures, countless moves, and the everyday joys and challenges of raising a family. With quiet elegance and grace, Elizabeth was beautiful in every way—inside and out.
Faith played a central role in her life. A lifelong church member, she loved singing in the choir and found joy and purpose in serving others. She was also a master bridge player, known for her sharp mind and competitive spirit, often delighting in beating her children and grandchildren at the card table.
Elizabeth’s warmth extended well beyond her immediate family. A gifted cook and hostess, she welcomed countless friends into her home, sharing her hospitality. She was also a talented seamstress and many of her lovingly crafted creations still grace the homes of her children and grandchildren.
She had a gift for friendship. Whether chatting with neighbors, spending time in the kitchen, or sharing laughter at her senior living community, Elizabeth made friends everywhere she went. She left behind a legacy of kindness, joy and quiet strength that touched every life she encountered.
Elizabeth was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Years ago, Elizabeth placed her faith and trust in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and upon her passing, she stepped into the glory of eternity with Him. What a joy and comfort it is to know she is now in His presence and that we will be united with her again one day.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Empson E Walker.
Elizabeth is survived by her children Suzanne (Alan) Moore, Sharon (Norris) Hodgin, Stephen (Cathy) Walker, and Amy (Michael) Greene; grandchildren Will Hodgin, Kathryn (Drake) Forney, Lauren Moore, Austin Moore, Megan Moore, Avery (Henry) Jones, Alex Walker, Garrett Greene, and Elizabeth Greene; and great-grandchildren Houston and Sailor Forney.
Her life was a testament to grace, love and faith and the beauty of a life well lived.
