Mary's obituary

Mary Ellen Deemer passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, December 12th, 2021, at the tragically young age of 30 in Napa, California. She was born in Palm Springs, California on January 15th, 1991.

Throughout her life, one thing was clear to all who met Mary: she was wildly original.

She was an untamed force who never let a day go by without learning something new. With the imaginative brilliance of an innovator and an unfailing work ethic, she could take on and master any task she set her mind to. The list of her accomplishments and passions is eclectic and would surprise a great many. She threw knives with accuracy, could paint a house, and lay a concrete foundation. She was a voracious reader who studied history, religion, languages, and consistently remained well-versed in current events. She attended Grace Church, was a lifetime member of the NRA with a concealed carry permit and was an avid proponent of human rights.

Mary graduated early and with honors from Vintage High School in 2008 before going on to study at the San Francisco Academy of Art University, where her was art chosen for display. While her artistic talents were myriad, she specialized in realistic figure sketching and portraiture. She could draw most anything with an eerie realism. Her favorite medium was charcoal, and she was often found up late in the night, covered in the black soot of her craft.

For the past several years, Mary worked as the Assistant Manager at Security Storage in Napa where she left her mark on the many customers with whom she interacted.

Yet more enduring than these talents and accomplishments is Mary’s vibrant, selfless nature. Those who met her would not fail to say she put a smile on their face—more likely, she left them laughing. Trust, this was no accident. She did this with purpose and, like all her actions, with love. She offered friendship, protection, and help to all who crossed her path. She has left a light in more lives than will ever know she has passed.

Mary walked heart first. She was kind and brave enough to be exactly that—exactly herself. Infinitely loved, her presence will never be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Earl & Anna-Pride Deemer, Silvio & Jacqualine Menicucci, and her uncle David Menicucci. She is survived by her mother, Karen Menicucci, her father and stepmother, Mark & Donna Deemer; her siblings Sunny Elizabeth, Megan, & Jordan; step-siblings Freddie & Karl; her aunts and uncles Fran & Brian Menicucci, Kristen & Michael Menicucci, Jamie (Menicucci) Bargas, Deborah (Deemer) Alexander; her cousins Kristen, Kathleen, & Brianna Menicucci, Erik & Jason Plavala, Calaix, Ian, & Mika Alexander.
