It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Cope-Karnes on September 26, 2024. Born on February 1, 1962, Mary lived her life passionately and was cherished deeply by her friends, family, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mary was predeceased by her mother, Lynn Waldo (Treichler) and her beloved husband, James Karnes. She is survived by her loving children, Steffanie Colyer, Tammy Lenker, and Matthew Houseman, who will remember her for her unwavering strength and enduring spirit. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Justin Houseman,
Joshua Houseman, Tyler Heck, Kylee Heck, Jason Ressler Jr, Andrew Lenker, Blake Lenker, Jacob Miller, Chase Lenker, Caleb Colyer and Elliot Houseman. She is survived by 2 great grandchildren, her sister, Gigi Tadych and brother George Tadych.
A graduate of Red Land High School in 1980, Mary was fondly remembered as a friend to all. She lived her life in Harrisburg, PA, a place she was proud to call home.
Mary had a brightly lit soul. Fond of the simpler pleasures in life, Mary found joy and comfort in playing Bingo and getting lost in the world of books. She found profound peace by the beach, where she would often retreat for solace and tranquility.
A woman of compassion and generosity, . Her love for animals is exemplified by her special bond with her dog, Nugget. She believed that love and kindness could make the world a better place and strived to spread it wherever she went.
As we mourn the loss of a remarkable woman, we also celebrate her life and the profound impact she had on everyone around her. Mary will be missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
