With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Colby, a light in the lives of many, on January 25, 2024. Born on October 14, 1932, to parents Francis and Violette Adelle (Quinn) McDermott, Mary led a life full of love, kindness, and compassion.

Mary's steadfast and caring nature was manifested in her extensive family who survive her. She was a loving mother to her children David, Nicky, Tommy, Joey, Timmy, Michael Colby, and her daughter, Janey Hosey. She was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren T.J, Ryan, Max Colby, and her granddaughters Violette Hosey, Emily Hosey, Celeste, Giavanna, Grace, Ruth, Olivia, and Macey Colby.

Predeceased by her father, Francis McDermott, her mother, Violette Adelle (Quinn) McDermott, and her beloved husband, Nick Colby Sr., Mary's legacy of love and resilience has left immeasurable impact on all who had the privilege to know her.

A viewing for Mary will be held on January 31, 2024, at 1:00 AM, followed by another at 7:00 PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home. A memorial service, celebrating her life, will be held on the same day, at 8:00 PM at the same location. These gatherings will provide a space for those who loved her to pay their respects, share their memories, and find comfort in their collective loss.

Mary's unwavering strength, her boundless love for her family, and her indomitable spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
