Mary Christine Reed, 84 of South Boston passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025, in Severna Park, MD.

Born in Boston, MA to John and Mary O’Connell, she grew up on Silloway St. in Dorchester. As a child, Mary loved summering at the Cape.

Mary graduated from Suffolk University where she met the love of her life Patrick Reed. They married on July 2, 1960, and lovingly raised three boys.

A beloved schoolteacher of 22 years at the St. Patrick School, Dorchester she made a lasting impact on many students and families as well as lifelong friendships.

Mary was the happiest when surrounded by her dedicated children. She loved to golf, garden, swim and soak up the sunshine. She was a loyal fan of her New England sports team. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her warm, welcoming home. She was well known for her holiday parties, especially Memorial Day cookouts with her legendary Boston Baked Beans. Her favorite vacation destinations were Charleston, SC and many winters in Naples, Florida.

Mary is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Patrick Reed. Her loving children, Michael, Patrick and wife Diana, and John. She also leaves six grandchildren: Catherine, Michael, Avery, Mary, Kelly, and LeeAnn.
