Mary's obituary

Mary Lou Cavanaugh (Carr), 73, of Marriottsville, MD, passed away July 27, 2025 surrounded by family. Born July 18, 1952, in Woodlawn, she grew up in Ellicott City, raised her daughter in Columbia, and spent her later years in Marriottsville.

Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, country drives, classic country music, and sharing her warmth and generosity with others. She worked in medical insurance billing until her retirement in 2021.

She is survived by her daughter Michelle (Nick) Pelszynski; granddaughter Fiona Mae; brother Ernest Carr; and former husband Warren “Bud” Cavanaugh. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and Ernest Carr, and sisters Nancy Provow and Patricia Efford.

A celebration of life will be held at Patapsco Valley State Park at a later date. Please plant a tree or flower in her honor or consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or the Friends of the Patapsco Valley State Park.
