Mary Janella Burgess of Hernando, MS. passed away Wednesday evening, March 27, 2024.

Mary was born and raised in Memphis, TN. She graduated from Central High School then attended the University of Memphis. Most of her working years were spent in the Dallas, TX area where she was a Technical Writer. She regularly participated in Bible Study Fellowship and served as a teaching leader. She also served on the board of Employees Credit Union in Dallas.

Upon her retirement, she moved back to the Memphis area, settling in Hernando, MS to be close to family. She continued with her Bible study and attended First Evangelical Church in Memphis. She also served many years with the Lions Club of Hernando.

She now enjoys the presence of Jesus and celebrates glory with her sister Anne Hairston and brother Billy Burgess. She will be greatly missed by her sisters, Kathleen Burgess of Hernando and Audrey Green of Lithia Springs GA, many nieces and nephews, lifelong friend Carol Gandy, extended family and all others who were lucky to know her. There is not enough room here to name everyone she loved.

A gathering of remembrance for Mary will be held Sunday, April 14, 2024, beginning at 2:30 pm at First Evangelical Church, 735 Ridge Lake Blvd., Memphis, TN 38120.
