Mary's obituary

Mary Jane (Clemons) Hrdlicka Braziel of Sun City, AZ passed away on April 4, 2022 after a 5 month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mary was born on August 12, 1946 in Waseca, MN to Donald and Lorraine (Knish) Clemons. Affectionately known as “Janie”, she grew up in rural Waterville, MN on a farm. She attended school in the Waterville Public School system and graduated in 1964. She was a member of the National Honor Society.

In December of 1964, she married George Hrdlicka and had two children. They divorced in 1995. In 1997 she married Tony Braziel.

Mary’s employment career began in early 1964 before she graduated from high school. She has a secretary to the high school principal and worked there until she moved to Key West, FL where George was stationed in the Navy. When she returned from Florida, she began working in the Le Sueur County Welfare Department as a secretary and was promoted to case aide where she was responsible for the implementation of the food stamp program. Mary’s other employment opportunities included Rice County Clerk of Court; legal secretary in two law firms, secretary in two school systems and lastly 30 years as Executive Assistant in the Legal Department of Carlson Companies in Minnetonka, MN. Upon retirement in 2014, she and her husband Tony moved to Gatesville, TX.

Mary had many hobbies through the years. She bowled on several leagues and won many awards her bowling achievements. She spent countless hours on other hobbies such as scrapbooking, making greeting cards and crocheting afghans. She also enjoyed going to the casinos around Minnesota.

Mary is survived by her daughter Heidi (Eric) Friese of Peoria, AZ and her son Scott Hrdlicka of Rome, NY. She also leaves behind three amazing grandchildren, Meagan Friese, Matthew Friese (Haley) and Alex Hrdlicka. She is also survived by her brother, Gary Clemons (Karen) of Cleveland, MN and her step-niece Heidi Jo Wells and step-nephew Eddie Engelby. Her husband, Tony, step niece Carrie, and her nephew Joshua Clemons pre-deceased her.

Mary’s remains have been cremated. At the request of the deceased there will be no funeral service. In lieu of a gathering, Mary asks that those who crossed her path in life share memories she left with her children.
