Mary's obituary

Mary C. Bowen, age 94, of Atlanta, GA, passed away on October 20, 2025, surrounded by family.

Mary was born on August 7, 1931, to Ernest and Mullis Crowe. She grew up in Commerce GA and later moved to Atlanta where she met Walter ‘Fred’ Bowen. Their marriage began an incredible 52-year journey full of life, adventures, and love.

Mary lived to honor her God by always being a good Samaritan. She was a remarkable person, known for her kind heart, strong faith, sense of humor, love of animals, and generosity. She was a light to all who knew her.

Mary found great joy in spending time with friends, walking her dog Izzy, and hunting for bargains. Her true pride and joy were her family! Mary is survived by two sons, Alan of Asheville, NC, and Walt of Dawsonville GA and two grandchildren: Camille and Bennett.

She will be deeply missed and forever remain in our hearts. A tribute to Mary will be held Sunday, November 9th at the conclusion of the 11am service at the First Christian Church of Atlanta (4532 Lavista Rd. Tucker GA 30084). A Celebration of Life will follow at her home (2159 Council Bluff Ct. Atlanta GA 3034) from 3-5pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
