Mary Ella Boddy (GRAMS), 96 of Vallejo, California passed away from natural causes on September 19th, 2022 in Fairfield, California.

Mary was born on June 2, 1926 to Josephine Webster and William Furrell in West Chester, PA. Following high school, Mary worked in a number of jobs, including child care (nanny) and the bartender everyone knew at the Pride of West Chester Elks Temple 487.

In 1943 Mary met Ernest Irons, Jr. and had a brief romance before Ernest shipped off to the war. That romance produced her only child, Katherine, who was born in 1944. In 1947 Mary married Albert Boddy and remained married for 20 years before parting ways.

Mary was grandmother to Michael Chambers 58, Mark Chambers 57, Marcellus Chambers 55, and Michelle Chambers 51. She also had 10 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Family was incredibly important to Mary and once she retired, in 1996, she relocated from West Chester to Vallejo, CA to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. The move gave her the chance to build strong bonds with her family.

Mary was predeceased by her parents Jospehine and William Furrell, brothers George Toogood, Marion Johns, Samuel Washington, and James (Sonny) Washington, and great-grandson Emmanuel Lucien Sauer-Chambers. She is survived by her daughter Katherine Benning, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, Niece Leona Simons (South Carolina),

Special Friends Ida McCaver, Bill Tiller, JackieMoore, Gladys Minor, Monica Gibson, Francis Norman, Grandson in-law Stephan Sauer, Pam Tominaga American Hospice, Stella McDonald, Antoinette Thomas, and Darcel Robinson Miller.

A celebration of life will take place on November 12, 2022 from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm at the Marriott Courtyard in Vallejo, California. 1000 Fairgrounds Dr. Vallejo, Ca 94589
