Mary's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Ellen Bass. Born on the 31st of May, 1956, Mary led a vibrant and purposeful life until her departure on February 20, 2024.
Mary was a beacon of love and kindness. She was a tall, beautiful, bubbly, intelligent, kind hearted, strong-willed, force of nature. Being a go-getter, she brought vitality and joy to everyone around her. Her infectious laughter resonated with all who were fortunate enough to cross her path. Her legacy, a testament of immense kindness, generosity, laughter, and love will forever stay with us.
She was a lover of good music, with Sade and Amy Winehouse being her all-time favorites. Mary also had a soft spot for new artists with a smooth sound. Her taste for music was as eclectic as her love for food. Renowned for her love for Italian food and good home-cooked meals, Mary's culinary passion was evident in the joy she expressed while indulging in her favorite dishes.
Mary had a flair for simple pleasures. She relished in playing games like Scrabble, enjoyed shopping trips, and loved walking her beloved pet, Thelma. A lover of exercise, she often indulged in swimming, walking and doing sit-ups. Her idea of a perfect vacation was anything warm located near the water, evidencing her love for tranquil and serene environments.
She was a woman of wisdom, always quick to remind us that "It's not what they say, it's what they don't say." Her remarkable perspective on life will continue to inspire and guide us. Mary's favorite color was blue, a reflection of her calm and composed persona.
Mary is survived by her mother Rosetta Bass Sr. and her siblings, Donna Alverez, Rosetta "Robin" Bass Jr., Linda Fenter and Chester Bass Jr. And many nieces and nephews including, Rosetta-Lynn Duck, Terrell Fenter, Ebony Fenter- Yarbrough, Chester " CJ" Bass, Donita Alvarez, Marta Alvarez-Peterson, and Lazaro "L.J." Alvarez and many great nieces and nephews along with cousins, friends and coworkers who will forever cherish her sweet memories, her unforgettable laugh and thirst for life. Mary Bass's vivacious spirit and unyielding strength will be dearly missed. She leaves behind a placeholder that can never be filled, and she will be remembered fondly for her lasting impact on those she touched.
