MaryAnn Elizabeth Urban (Sorensen) of Apple Valley, MN, 84 years old (1940-2024), passed away on September 13, 2024. MaryAnn died like she lived, surrounded by the love and joy she gave throughout her life.

MaryAnn was musical. She made the Augsburg choir as a freshman and majored in Music Education. She taught music to many kids, varying in age and ability to sing on pitch.

MaryAnn was social. She served coffee (and drank plenty herself), “gabbing” with regular customers, while providing many high-school students their first job as a family restaurant owner. From her years as a music teacher, she often knew every little kid in town and received hugs everywhere we went.

MaryAnn was faithful. She brought her family to church every Sunday, first service. She taught church choir, hand bells, and attended Bible studies.

MaryAnn was loving. She and husband Lynn celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in August. She and Lynn went to many sporting and musical events of their children and grandchildren, and devotedly followed college and professional sports teams.

MaryAnn was born in Hutchinson, Minnesota, to Fred and Margaret Sorensen. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Larry. She is survived by her husband Lynn, her sister Linda, sister-in-law Barb, and her children, Jeff (Susan), Julie (Johan Christopherson), and Jon (Carla) and grandchildren Sydney, Hans, Marshall, Carl, and Colin. She also leaves behind many friends.

There will be a memorial service held on January 25 at 11 am (10 am visitation) at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran in Apple Valley. Donations can be directed to Augsburg University Music Department.
