Background

Mary-Anne, also known as Gram, Ma, mother, and mommy was a loving, generous person throughout her entire life. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at her loving granddaughter and caretaker Jamie Russin’s home. She leaves behind a legacy of warm memories, funny anecdotes, siblings, cousins, her children, and her dozens of grandchildren and dozens of great grandchildren. She was always there when anyone needed anything whether it be a ride, a warm meal, someone to talk to, some place to stay or crafting advice.
She was an active volunteer in the community of North Brookfield and a member of NBEMA, the Director of Religious Education at Sacred Heart of Jesus in West Brookfield for several years, a devoted teacher at Nazareth School for Boys, and then North Brookfield Elementary School before working in the deli at Hannaford‘s. When she was younger, she also worked at Brown Shoe Co. in Worcester, The Fair in Spencer and Quaboag Rubber in North Brookfield.
Mary-Ann was the Worcester carnival queen as a teenager and boasted about dancing with Chubby Checkers and playing basketball with Bob Cousy and attended Classical High School and graduated from Worcester State College in the top 10% of her class. Mary-Ann loved gardening, taking pictures of sunsets, painting, canning her own tomatoes that she would use in her signature homemade sauce for her family, renowned spaghetti and meatballs. She was feisty, incredibly generous, in any way possible, notorious for her incredible skill of storytelling and her ability to always forgive and keep an open heart. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
Services will be held on Wednesday October 11, 2023. The calling hour will be 9:30-10:30 at Pillsbury Funeral Home followed by mass at 11:00 at St. Joseph’s in North Brookfield, the burial service at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton and a gathering for snacks and refreshments at St. Joseph’s Church Hall in North Brookfield.
