Mary Ann's obituary
Mary Ann (Giuliani) Binder was a strong, loving presence in the lives of those who knew her. She was preceded in death by father Ernesto, mother Beulah, brother James and husband Edwin (Fritz). She is survived by her sister Sue, brother Joe and brother Dick. She was married to Fritz for 57 years before his passing in 2019. She was the loving mother of Jeff (Laurie), Lynn (Joe), Julie (Johnny) and Tim (Tina). She was an adoring grandmother to grandchildren Kyle (Chloe), Jaime (Charlie), Jenna, Maddie, Frankie, Jesse, Taylor, Gabby and Will. She was also a great-grandmother to Reese, Jackson and Lena.
Mary Ann grew up in the small town of Bretz, West Virginia, where her parents ran the local store right next door to their home. Upon graduation from high school, she moved to Pittsburgh to work and met Fritz at a party. After marrying, they quickly built their family, having four children in three years. Their life together began in Pittsburgh, they spent time in Cincinnati and then settled in Hanover Park, Illinois, where they raised their children.
Mary Ann was primarily a homemaker, but when her kids got older she went back to work at JC Penney, where she worked in the lingerie department for many years. She loved to sew and craft. Over the years she made countless costumes, pieces of jewelry, and clothing for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary Ann was a very stylish lady. Her snazzy clothes and jewelry ensured she was always “put-together.” Her children will remember her as being a caring mother who would always support them during difficult times. Being a devoted caretaker was second nature to her, and this was reflected in her relationships with her children as well as her grandchildren. Mary Ann did anything and everything she could to make them feel special. Whether it was playing board games or doing makeovers, she was always up for anything that would allow her quality time with her grandchildren.
The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
